Large Frames That Will Bring A New Dimension To Any Form Of Artwork
No CommentsThe Old Master artists from centuries ago worked on huge canvases and when they wanted to display them need the expertise of carpenters to construct the large frames they needed. That these methods and designs of framing are still used today is a tribute to the skill of those artisans who did that ground-breaking work without the help of machines and computers available today.
Yet their work has endured and these magnificent frames, although extremely heavy have stood the test of time. These were mostly made from wood or plaster gilded moldings that tended to be very ornate and cumbersome. It was only in the eighteenth century that lighter frames with softer lines less elaborate carvings made their appearance.
The top lines of these borders required swirling edges that seemed to stand alone with swept rails, unequal arcs and twists and pictograms which gave carpenters a new test for their skill. They however passed with flying colors as one can see when visiting any museum of art or old estate where their work can be seen holding great works of art.
Not only a practical item with which to hang a painting but a frame that has been selected with great thought can change the appearance of the picture completely. Just so the mounting board and highlighting sections one chooses will also enhance the painting.
Today a person is fortunate to have the choice of art framing specialists readily available and within easy reach through internet online shopping as well as one-on-one service at one’s local framing store. These people have expert knowledge and will lead one through this quagmire that is framing.
Internet shopping offers a person an option of scanning pictures into various types of frames to help one get a visual idea of which one will be appropriate for both artwork and room where it will hang. This is a true example of the wonder of technological advances that have taken all the stress out of shopping.
Old weathered and time battered frames in various styles and shapes are making a comeback and boot sales, markets and antique shops are being raided by people looking for a frame to display a mirror in or just to hang on a wall with nothing in it as a dramatic feature.
Large frames of any design and color will always draw the eye and quickly become a focal point in any room. A person may want to choose with care when buying it as it will need to feature the painting at its best and pay tribute to the interior.
